Hail to the South Africans. For having more players – eight – competing in this year’s Masters than any other country aside from the United States.
For the classy way Gary Player ended his magnificent 52-tournament run at the Masters.
For the touching tribute Trevor Immelman, Rory Sabbatini, Louis Oosthuizen and Richard Sterne gave the Black Knight by greeting him behind the 18th green when he finished his final competitive round Friday. They were there to show their gratitude for all Player has done for golf in South Africa, and for them. And they honored themselves greatly in the process.
For regularly articulating their admiration for and appreciation of the United States, for the opportunities it so regularly offers and the generosity it so often shows. What refreshing views in a world far too fond of America-bashing, and we Yanks are grateful for your support.
