I made my picks Wednesday night, and now that the cut has been made, I thought I’d assess my prescience with you.

Let’s start with the good news. I wrote that Tiger and Phil would be in the mix as well as Geoff Ogilvy and Padraig Harrington. So far, so good, though I admit those are not exactly stretches.

I said Rory McIlroy would make it to the weekend, and he did. But barely. I also divined that Trevor Immelman and Ben Curtis had chances, and they still do. In addition, I counted Dustin Johnson as one of my dark horses, and he is looking pretty good at 142, just seven back.

OK, so I whiffed on Retief Goosen, who is no doubt on his way back to South Africa. And I let sentimentality get the better of me when I claimed Fred Couples and Greg Norman would make it to the weekend, though they did come close.

But overall, I think I am doing fairly well.
