People who haven’t been to the Masters always ask one question

People who haven’t been to the Masters always ask one question:

"What’s it like?"

My answer is always the same:

"It’s the only American sports competition left in which the event always surpasses the hype."

Think about it … Okay, now go ahead and try to name a sports event that isn’t overwhelmed by hype long before it begins.

Maybe because it’s pure anticipation that drives patrons to the Masters each year. It’s golf’s first major, played every April at Augusta National Golf Club. Players from around the world dream of earning an invitation and making that first trip down Magnolia Lane. People around the world who don’t consider themselves golf fans pay attention. And something always happens at the Masters to distinguish that particular tournament from any of the others.

At masters.com, I’ll be bringing you the action as it unfolds. For the first time, this Web site will have a live blog, posting instant insight and analysis and taking you shot by shot through the tournament. I’ll also be interacting with our masters.com patrons and weighing in on questions of the day.

So don’t worry if you can’t watch on television or you’re stuck in the office. I’ll be your eyes and ears, live and online.

What’s it going to be like? I’m sure the Masters once again will surpass the hype. And the goal will be to pass that feeling along to you.
