Souvenir Time
The Golf Shop at Augusta National Golf Club was full as usual early Monday. when it received a rushed and interestingly dressed shopper.
Paul Casey’s caddy, Craig Connelly, wearing his white coverall jump suit, worked his way to the cash register carrying seven Masters hats, six flags and two shirts.
"I have a lot of friends back home I have to buy for and I have to get it early," Connelly explained for his rushed visit.
Asked if he wanted the purchase delivered to Casey’s locker, Connelly declined.
"No. He will just yell at me for spending so much money. I’ll just pay for it."
After paying, the caddy asked for his purchases to be held at the front desk.
"I’ve got to go. We’re getting ready to be on the tee," he said while heading out the door towards the first tee box.
Watson Returns
Two-time Masters Champion Tom Watson was out for a noontime practice session and later a practice round. He greeted Patrons and members standing outside the back of the members pro shop, before heading to the practice range
Disappointing Turn
"The most disappointed golfer, maybe anywhere Monday, wasn’t even on the grounds at Augusta National Golf Club .
J.B. Holmes got into a late Sunday evening playoff at the Shell Houston Open, with a victory over Paul Casey securing his last-minute ticket to play in the 2009 Masters. Yet his first tee shot on the first extra hole found the water and the playoff was over almost as soon as it started with Casey the winner.
Holmes headed home to Florida, but said it was clear where he really wanted to be.
"I could have changed my travel plans for Augusta, no problem. It would have been a very easy thing to do."
